What is the fastest way to reach someone at the theatre?

For the fastest service, use the form on the contact us page. There is no one to answer phone calls at the theatre, and we do not check voicemail as often as we check email.


Is seating general admission, or do I pick a seat?

All Newtown Theatre events are general admission. That means seating is first come, first served (it doesn’t mean you have to stand).

Note that Newtown Arts Company allows you to pick specific seats for their shows. Those are the only shows at the theatre with assigned seating.


Can you reserve seats for me?

We cannot reserve seats. For most live events, we open our doors an hour before showtime. If you are coming with a large group and wish to sit together it’s best to come early. Alternatively, you can send a person or two ahead of the group to hold seats.


Do you offer group discounts?

We do not offer group discounts, sorry.


Are tickets refundable, or can they be exchanged for other shows?

All ticket sales are final and refunds/ticket exchanges will not be offered for any reason (including Covid or if you bought tickets to the wrong show or wrong time…please double check your dates/times before making a purchase).

If you can’t attend an event, you’re welcome to give your tickets to someone else. The name on the ticket does not have to match the person using it.

The only exception to our no-refund policy is if you are a theatre member. As a benefit of membership, we will refund tickets bought by members and/or make exchanges (exchanges can only be made on a very limited basis). See our membership page for details/restrictions.


I think I was double billed for my tickets. What do I do?

If you think you were double billed for tickets, please contact the theatre first to resolve the issue. Please do not contact your bank or Ticketbud (TicketBud will often just refund/cancel all of your tickets, leaving you with no tickets to the show you want to see). The best way to reach us is through the contact us page on our website.


Do you sell tickets over the phone or at the box office?

Except for select movies, we do not sell tickets at the box office and we do not sell tickets over the phone. Most of our tickets need to be purchased on our website.

The exception is if a show is not sold out. In that case we will sell tickets at the box office right before the show.


Do you have a waitlist for sold-out shows?

Sorry, we do not maintain waitlists.


I can’t find the email with my tickets. Help!

The theatre’s ticketing platform is Ticketbud. First, search your email (including your spam folder) for an email from Ticketbud. You can also go to this Ticketbud page and enter your email to retrieve your tickets. This only works if you typed in the correct email address when buying tickets.

If all else fails, we can always check you in by your name at the door on the night of the event. Still have questions? You can contact us for help.


Someone is offering to sell me tickets to one of your sold-out shows. Should I trust them?

In a word, no. Unless you personally know the person, do not trust anyone who says they are selling Newtown Theatre tickets, especially if they want you to pay for the tickets via PayPal, Venmo, etc.


Where CAN I park?

The Newtown Theatre has no parking of its own and no designated accessible parking spots. Free parking is available in these locations:

  • Street parking along North State Street and surrounding Borough streets.

  • The municipal lot between Washington Avenue and Centre Avenue.

  • The municipal lot next to Newtown Borough Hall (23 North State Street).


Is the building accessible for people with walkers or wheelchairs?

Yes, we have a wheelchair lift out front and a first-floor accessible restroom. Once inside, there are no steps to climb to access the first floor of our auditorium. There are steps to the balcony, however. Note that we also do not have a parking lot or designated accessible parking spots.

Patrons who cannot walk long distances can be dropped off in front of the theatre. The “yellow curb” in front of the theatre is for drop-off, not parking.

Since our events are all general admission seating, we ask that patrons in wheelchairs or who need assistance contact us at least two days prior to an event they will be attending. This will help us prepare for your arrival and ensure that you can best be accommodated.

Do you sell gift certificates?

For a variety of reasons, we do not sell gift certificates or gift cards. If you are seeing these items on a resale website, they are fraudulent.


Can I rent the theatre?

Yes, you can. The best place to start is our rental page.


I have a question about booking/hosting a child's birthday party.

Can I bring my food and drink into the theatre?

Sorry, outside food or drink is not permitted. We do have a concession stand with popcorn, candy and soda and a bar with beer, wine and canned cocktails.

How does membership work?
