FLOOR STAFF

Job Type: Part-time (approx. 10-15 hours per week)

Working hours: Primarily evenings and weekends

Salary: $8.00 per hour

Physical requirements: Frequent movement within the theatre; moderate physical effort which may include standing, walking, handling/moving heavy objects, occasional climbing, crawling or stooping; indoor/outdoor work environment.

FLOOR STAFF RESPONSIBILITIES

Floor staff members are responsible for ensuring our guests receive exceptional service during their time at the Newtown Theatre. Floor staff must act as representatives of the Newtown Theatre in a way that is consistent with our mission and values.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

General Requirements

  • Possess strong customer service skills and ability to assist a wide range of customers

  • Assist guests throughout their visit by greeting them upon entry and answering questions courteously and accurately

  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality for all scheduled shifts

  • Demonstrate a high aptitude for cash handling and stellar verbal communication skills

  • Fully comply with organization dress code

  • Report to management any problems, discrepancies, or unusual situations that arise

Box Office

  • Operate our point-of-sale (POS) system to sell tickets and concessions

  • Properly handle cash drawer, credit cards, gift cards and redeemed discount tickets, passes, and coupons

  • Promote the Newtown Theatre membership program

  • Ensure tickets are sold in accordance with the MPAA rating system

  • Respond to questions from guests in a polite and helpful manner

  • Keep the box office clean and well organized

Concession Stand

  • Maintain adequate concession inventory

  • Safely operate and clean all concession-related equipment

  • Comply with local, state and federal food safety laws

Cleaning and Maintenance

  • Set up and break down extra tables and chairs if needed

  • Clean auditorium after each event/show

  • Maintain clean restrooms, lobby, balcony, hallways, stairs, storage areas, building exterior, and other areas

Rentals

  • Assist people who have rented the Newtown Theatre with set-up and break-down for their event

  • Address facility and technical questions from renters, including capabilities of our projector, sound system, and lights
