Newtown Black & White Dinner

Sunday, September 6 • 5:30 PM

Join us for the 10th annual Newtown Black & White Dinner on Sunday, September 6. Note: This year’s event was rescheduled to avoid impacting neighbors who observe Rosh Hashanah.

During the event, up to 1,000 black-and-white clad diners will gather on Newtown Borough’s closed-down North State Street for a one-of-a-kind alfresco picnic held in the middle of the street. All proceeds from this event benefit the non-profit historic Newtown Theatre.

Dress

To celebrate the elegance of old Hollywood, dinner guests are asked to dress only in black and white for this event. Creativity is encouraged and formal wear is absolutely not required – as long as it's black and white, the sky's the limit!

Prizes will be awarded after dinner to the Best Dressed Man, Best Dressed Woman, Best Dressed Group, Most Elegant Decor, and Most Creative Decor.

Decorate

When you arrive to the Newtown Black & White Dinner at 5:30 PM, you'll find a communal table draped in white linens stretching down North State Street.

You’ll take the next available spot at the table for you and your group. (If you arrive first, you can save their seats.)

You're welcome to decorate your place at the table with black and white décor. Decorations may be elegant, whimsical, movie-themed, theatre-inspired—it's up to you! If you’re not into decorating, that’s OK too! Just show up and have fun.

Prizes will be awarded to those with the Most Elegant Décor and Most Creative Décor.

While you decorate your place at the table, you can mingle, enjoy live jazz music, and prepare for dinner, which begins at 6:30 PM.

Dine

Dinner is up to you! Prepare a picnic dinner or bring takeout. No matter what you choose, you’ll also need to bring flatware and glasses, beverages (alcohol is allowed), desserts, and any decorations you'd like for your place at the table.

Don’t spend the whole day cooking! Newtown Borough and Township is home to many great restaurants that would be happy to provide you with takeout you can order and grab on your way to the theatre. A great way to support two local institutions!
