The Movie Club pick for November is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975).
Each Movie Club film is introduced by Emmy Award winner and film historian Joe Amodei, President/CEO of Virgil Films & Entertainment. After the movie, Joe will be joined by Joel Gibbs, host of “Moviemania!,” “Everything Entertainment,” and “The Movie Show” — nationally syndicated radio talk shows where listeners across America gather to quench their thirst for everything they love about movies. Joe and Joel will discuss the film with participation from the audience.
Synopsis
When Randle Patrick McMurphy gets transferred for evaluation from a prison farm to a mental institution, he assumes it will be a less restrictive environment. But the martinet Nurse Ratched runs the psychiatric ward with an iron fist, keeping her patients cowed through abuse, medication and sessions of electroconvulsive therapy. The battle of wills between the rebellious McMurphy and the inflexible Ratched soon affects all the ward's patients.
