  • The Newtown Theatre 120 North State Street Newtown, PA 18940 (map)

Presented by the Pickering manor auxiliary

Pickering Manor Auxiliary will screen the critically acclaimed movie Still Alice on Thursday, April 4 at 7 PM. The film will be followed by a Q&A with a panel of local dementia experts.

“Still Alice” is based on the 2007 novel by Lisa Genova. It stars Julianne Moore as a linguistics professor diagnosed with familial Alzheimer’s disease shortly after her 50th birthday. Alec Balwin plays her husband and Kristen Stewart, Kate Bosworth and Hunter Parris play her children. The film won numerous awards, including the Academy Award for Best Actress for Moore.

Following the movie, panelists will be available to take questions from the audience and share their knowledge, expertise, and experience with dementia and Alzheimer's disease.

Panelists will include Pickering Manor CEO David Woodhead, NHA; Homewatch CareGivers President and CEO Bindu Agarwal; and Maggie Sullivan, a certified facilitator of caregiver support groups for the Alzheimer’s Association at Chandler Hall for 30 years, a New York Times published author, and a long-time caregiver for her mother who lived with Alzheimer’s for more than 10 years.

Online tickets are $10 per person. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $15. All seating is general admission. All proceeds from this event will benefit the Pickering Manor Auxiliary.
