Illuminated Classical Christmas Concert

  • The Newtown Theatre 120 North State Street Newtown, PA 18940 (map)

The historic Newtown Theatre will present its third annual Illuminated Classical Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 12 at 8 PM. This one-of-a-kind concert will be illuminated by hundreds of elegant white lights and feature string musicians from the Newtown Chamber Orchestra.

The concert will include well-known classical works such as Respighi Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No.1, and Corelli’s “Christmas Concerto” featuring Christopher Jones, Russell Hoffmann and Katrina Kormanski as soloists.

Additional works include several holiday songs of a more popular nature such as Leroy Anderson’s Christmas Festival arranged for string orchestra, Faeries (Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies) a Mannheim Steamrollers arrangement from the Nutcracker, and Channukah Festival Overture. For a cultural twist, Brazilian Sleigh Bells and Yuletide Reel are included. Another highlight will be ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas” with narration by Tim Bryan.

Online tickets are $37 per person or $32 for theatre members. Any remaining tickets will be sold for $47 at the door on the night of the show (if available).

All seating is general admission.

HISTORIC RENOVATION FEE

In the summer of 2024, the historic Newtown Theatre will undertake Phase II of its master renovation plan, which includes renovating our balcony and expanding and improving our basement restrooms. To help pay for these exciting upgrades, we have implemented a $2 historic renovation fee on every ticket of $15 or more. This fee is just one part of an overall plan to raise the $600,000 required to make these upgrades. Thank you for supporting your historic hometown theatre!
