The Race to Alaska (Documentary)

  • The Newtown Theatre 120 North State Street Newtown, PA 18940 (map)

Join us for The Race to Alaska on Tuesday, August 2 at 7:30 PM.

This documentary follows sailors as they compete in one of the most difficult endurance challenges in the world – an adrenaline-fueled, 750-mile boat race through the dangerous and spectacular wilderness of Alaska’s Inside Passage.

Described as “the Iditarod, on a boat, with a chance of drowning or being eaten by a grizzly bear,” it’s amazing anyone enters at all. With no motors and no support, this epic endurance race attracts the intrepid and unhinged who find their edge along a coastline that is as punishing as it is beautiful.

Through vast aerials, in-depth interviews, and raw racer-shot footage, The Race to Alaska tells the story of the race’s improbable inception and the journey of the men and women who answered the call to action.

Online tickets are $15 for the public and $12 for theatre members. If available, tickets will be sold at the door for $20. All seating is general admission.
